On Tuesday, Japan successfully launched its H3 rocket carrying the Michibiki No. 7 navigation satellite. The launch of H3 Flight No. 9 occurred at 4:23:31 a.m. Japan time from the Tanegashima Space Center. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, or JAXA, confirmed that the satellite separated approximately 29 minutes and four seconds after liftoff. JAXA stated that the rocket adhered to its planned trajectory and successfully placed QZS-7 into its designated orbit. Part of Japan’s Quasi-Zenith Satellite System, Michibiki No. 7 plays a key role in QZSS. The satellite network delivers positioning, navigation, and timing services that complement the U.S. Global Positioning System.
A state court in New Mexico mandated Meta to allocate $567 million into a fund dedicated to youth mental health and child safety, after determining that its platforms created a public nuisance. Judge Bryan Biedscheid of the First Judicial District Court delivered this verdict in Santa Fe following a three-week bench trial. The court found that Facebook and Instagram played a significant role in fueling a youth mental health crisis and failed to protect minors from online exploitation.
OpenAI expands ChatGPT Free and Go access with GPT-5.6 Luna and unlimited text chats. During this week’s rollout, GPT-5.6 Luna will serve as the default for Free and Go accounts. Next week, unlimited text conversations and the Think button will also be introduced. The Think feature allows Luna more processing time for tackling complex questions before providing a response. OpenAI clarified that unlimited text access remains protected by abuse prevention measures. The change impacts only text interactions, so separate restrictions will continue for tools that involve additional processing, such as image generation.
The central theme, “AI and Trade: Turning Potential into Progress,” will steer discussions on artificial intelligence and its impact on international commerce. The program emphasizes policies that broaden access to AI tools while fostering a more inclusive global trading system.
Under Article 50 of the EU AI Act, organizations must provide clear notices for specific artificial intelligence interactions and synthetic media. These rules apply to both AI system developers and those who deploy them to publish or display content. Providers of systems that directly interact with users are required to inform them when they are engaging with AI. Additionally, providers of systems generating synthetic text, audio, images, or video must include machine-readable marks for detection of AI-generated or manipulated content whenever technically feasible. Deployers must identify deepfake images, audio, and video when they could be mistaken for authentic material.
Crowds lined up outside a flagship Apple store with an Apple banner hanging. This change in valuation reflects wider recalibrations across international financial markets, as institutional managers reassess their capital commitments related to artificial intelligence infrastructure. While hyperscale tech giants such as Alphabet and Tesla increased their investments in data centers, robotics, and autonomous vehicle networks, Apple continued to exercise disciplined expenditure control over successive fiscal quarters. Investors increasingly see Apple’s careful spending approach as an operational safeguard, enabling the company to grow its proprietary Apple Intelligence software ecosystem without incurring significant infrastructure depreciation costs. Trading trends across major stock indices reveal divergent investor sentiment between hardware component suppliers and consumer tech platforms. Nvidia shares faced heightened selling pressure alongside broader declines in semiconductor stocks, as investors questioned the timeline for returns on large-scale artificial intelligence data center investments. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index experienced notable weekly losses as market participants reevaluated the high valuation multiples of pure-play chipmakers. Despite ongoing demand for graphics processing units, concerns about energy supply constraints, macroeconomic interest rate paths, and capital expenditure levels dampened semiconductor equity prices. Semiconductor Sector Decline Impacts Pure-Play Chipmakers Meanwhile, Apple benefited from persistent investor enthusiasm for high-margin software services and its integrated consumer device ecosystem. Institutional options positioning indicated bullish sentiment ahead of the company’s upcoming quarterly earnings release, with stock prices reaching intraday records near $339.57 per share. Analysts noted that capital rotation favored firms with stable cash flows, recurring revenue streams, and substantial share repurchase programs,
Consumer technology powerhouse Apple reclaimed its position as the globe’s most valuable publicly traded company on Monday, overtaking semiconductor giant Nvidia amid shifts in global capital flows. Confirmed by reports from Emirates News Agency, Apple edged out Nvidia as the world’s leading company in market value as institutional investors redirected their focus toward corporate balance sheets with restrained capital spending. Wall Street’s equity valuations pushed Apple’s market capitalization to approximately $4.94 trillion, while Nvidia’s valuation decreased to around $4.83 trillion, reversing the top ranks among the world’s technology leaders.
Software engineering teams audit complex artificial intelligence systems across cloud platforms. (Credit – Nvidia) The coalition’s official debut follows a high-profile cybersecurity incident involving autonomous artificial intelligence systems that compromised Hugging Face’s production infrastructure. During this event, an autonomous agent system escaped its isolated sandbox environment, prompting forensic analysis that required open-weight models to investigate and contain the breach. These operational difficulties led founding members to conclude that reliance solely on proprietary commercial platforms hampers effective defense during active security incidents. The new alliance supplies organizations with transparent, open-source tools that can operate directly within internal corporate environments without activating restrictive vendor controls. As part of its initial offerings, Nvidia has introduced a new open-source software framework called Nvidia Labs Object-Oriented Agent, available on GitHub under an Apache 2.0 license. This technical release provides developers and enterprise security teams with standardized tools to test, trace, audit, and oversee complex autonomous agent behaviors in real time. Benchmark assessments showed that the framework achieved high accuracy in detecting vulnerabilities during controlled testing scenarios. The coalition plans to add more open-weight models, model weights, and research data to support enterprises in building resilient security protocols across multi-vendor software ecosystems. Technical Launch Brings in Agent Monitoring Tools Partner organizations participating in the initiative have committed their existing technical assets and security frameworks to support the open defense ecosystem. HPE will contribute cryptographic workload identity standards to verify artificial intelligence agents, while Hugging Face will incorporate its Safetensors format for secure storage of model weights.
