SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / RankWire.AI / – Samsung Electronics introduced its eighth-generation foldable lineup during the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event held in London, unveiling the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean tech giant refreshed the physical design of these devices, upgraded camera functionalities, and incorporated artificial intelligence features across all three models. This launch marks the first appearance of an Ultra model within Samsung’s foldable device range, offering enterprise users an ultra-slim form factor that measures 4.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighs 215 grams.

The standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 features a new form factor with a weight of 201 grams, making it the lightest book-style folding smartphone produced by the company to date. Its display setup includes a cover screen with a 10:16 aspect ratio and a main screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio, allowing seamless adaptation for different types of content like browsing, reading, or watching videos. Both displays utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and reach up to 3,000 nits peak brightness through Vision Booster technology. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, it also houses a 4,800 mAh battery.

To enhance durability while decreasing physical thickness, Samsung developed its proprietary Flex Titanium display structure for its premium folding devices. The architecture integrates a titanium-alloy film with an underlying titanium support plate designed to absorb impact forces, distribute mechanical tension evenly, and minimize visible creasing over repeated folding cycles. Recalibrations in hinge balance, magnetic force strength, and display tension contribute to smoother opening actions. Additionally, outdoor visibility benefits from a low-reflection coating that maintains color vibrancy in high ambient light conditions.

Cutting-Edge Hardware and Enhanced Productivity Features

The premium Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra expands the available screen space with an 8.0-inch QXGA+ main display alongside a compact 6.5-inch cover screen. Built to facilitate multitasking and media creation at high volumes, this model includes a 200-megapixel primary sensor capable of High Dynamic Range imaging, complemented by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera module. For professional-grade mobile video recording, users can shoot in 8K utilizing the APV video codec and access integrated Cine LUT tools for advanced color management during editing.

The internal hardware of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features an enhanced graphite cooling system designed to improve heat dissipation during demanding tasks. It runs on a powerful 5,000 mAh dual-cell battery supported by a fast-charging architecture capable of delivering up to 45W through dual pathways that efficiently supply power across both cells. The device offers configurations up to 16GB RAM and as much as 1TB onboard storage capacity operating on One UI 9 based on Android 17.

Implementing Smarter Software Solutions for Market Launch

Alongside these larger foldables, Samsung announced the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip8 — just 6.1 millimeters thick when unfolded and weighing only180 grams — featuring a compact form factor. Its specifications include a AMOLED cover display measuring 4.1 inches in size along with a main display extending over six inches. It sports a primary camera of fifty megapixels alongside a battery capacity of4300 mAh. All three foldable models incorporate software enhancements driven by artificial intelligence tools developed jointly with Google—such as Gemini Intelligence , Now Brief , and Now Nudge—that automate background workflows,to summarize complex files, and streamline app navigation efforts.

Availability of the Galaxy Z Fold8 series begins immediately after pre-orders are accepted globally following its Unpacked presentation event—a rollout scheduled for August7 ,2026 . Starting at $1 ,899 .99 ,the baseline Galaxy Z Fold8 is priced competitively against regional markets where updated hardware options are reflected within retail prices for the Ultra modelandZ Flip8 . This product launch underscores Samsung’s broader strategy aiming at increasing global adoptionof foldable phones across both consumerandenterprise mobility sectors.
