    UAE and Canada expand bilateral relations through strategic pact

    ABU DHABI, November 20, 2025: UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney held official talks in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across key sectors. The discussions, which took place at Qasr Al Shati, underscored the depth of the partnership between the United Arab Emirates and Canada, which spans more than five decades. President Sheikh Mohamed welcomed Prime Minister Carney, expressing optimism that the visit would contribute to advancing the strategic ties between the two nations. He affirmed that the UAE values its relationship with Canada as a model of constructive cooperation built on mutual respect, shared interests, and a commitment to global development and peace.

    Both leaders reviewed opportunities to enhance collaboration in areas including trade, investment, artificial intelligence, clean energy, climate action, education, culture, and sustainable development. They emphasized the importance of promoting innovation and technological exchange to support their respective economic diversification and growth objectives. During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed and Prime Minister Carney also exchanged views on several regional and international developments of common concern. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to multilateral cooperation and to advancing initiatives that promote peace, stability, and prosperity at both regional and global levels.

    UAE and Canada reaffirm shared development goals

    The Canadian Prime Minister commended the UAE’s progress in various fields, highlighting the country’s role as a key partner for Canada in promoting economic and technological collaboration. He expressed his government’s determination to further deepen bilateral ties, particularly in sectors that contribute to long-term growth, climate resilience, and sustainable development. At the conclusion of the talks, both sides witnessed the signing of a bilateral agreement on the protection and promotion of investment, designed to facilitate stronger economic cooperation and encourage cross-border investment flows. The agreement aims to create a more enabling environment for investors and to enhance confidence in long-term partnerships between the two countries.

    Memorandum strengthens strategic investment cooperation

    It was signed by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Prime Minister Mark Carney on behalf of their respective governments. To coincide with the visit, the UAE and Canada also announced a memorandum of understanding on investment cooperation, further reinforcing their joint efforts to expand strategic economic ties. The meeting was attended by senior UAE officials, including Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President, along with a number of ministers and high-level dignitaries. – By Content Syndication Services.
