The country’s airports collectively handled over 71.7 million passengers, compared to 62.8 million in the same period in 2023, signaling a continued post-pandemic recovery. Passenger traffic at both Abu Dhabi International Airport and Dubai International Airport surged, with Abu Dhabi recording a 33.8% year-on-year increase, while Dubai saw an 8% rise, according to the Quarterly Economic Review.
Additionally, Zayed International Airport reported handling over 13.7 million passengers in H1 2024, benefiting from its top-tier facilities and expanded services. “This underscores Abu Dhabi’s position as a significant global transportation hub,” the report stated, with passenger numbers at Abu Dhabi International Airport climbing by over 33% compared to 2023. The growth in passenger traffic strengthens the UAE’s status as a key global aviation center while contributing significantly to the national economy.
