FIFA has thrown Russia out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar

These decisions were made by the Bureau of the FIFA Council and the Executive Committee of UEFA, respectively the highest decision-making bodies in both institutions. Football is fully united here and in full solidarity with all those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. Both Presidents hope that the situation in Ukraine will improve significantly and rapidly, so that football can again serve as a catalyst for peace and unity among people.

FIFA condemns the use of force by Russia in Ukraine and any form of violence involved in conflict resolution. Violent conflict is never a solution, and FIFA calls on all parties to make peace through constructive dialogue. FIFA also expresses our solidarity with those affected by this conflict.

Highlighting Youth Inclusion on International Youth Day 2026

    August 13, 2026

International Youth Day 2026 highlights youth inclusion, skills and shared global aspirations. The UN identified economic uncertainty, digital inclusion, and climate change as key challenges confronting younger generations worldwide. According to the Secretary-General’s message, these issues often transcend borders and demand coordinated international responses. Guterres also highlighted the innovation, energy, and leadership demonstrated by young people, describing them as organizers and pioneers actively contributing to communities and civic life. The message linked youth participation to broader efforts aimed at sustainable development. Enhancing skills was another priority in the 2026 message. Guterres urged young individuals to access critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and digital literacy. He believes these skills will shape the future and promote more inclusive societal engagement. The Secretary-General also called on institutions to collaborate with youth as equal partners, advocating for increased youth involvement in decision-making processes at local, national, and global levels.
