The World Health Organization confirmed that without swift measures to contain unmonitored community spread and address regional supply chain disruptions, the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Ebola outbreak will break previous mortality records. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that the epidemic’s current path threatens to outstrip the devastating 2014–2016 West African outbreak, which caused more than 11,000 deaths.
