    IOC Vice President meets Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed

    His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, received the Vice President of International Olympic Committee, Ng Ser Miang. During the meeting, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed and Miang discussed the achievements of the UAE National Olympic Committee and its role in promoting Olympic activities on a local and international level. The meeting also discussed ways of enhancing excellence and competitiveness in sports.

    Sheikh Ahmed said that meetings held with international sporting bodies will help improve the skills and competitiveness of Emirati athletes and prepare them to compete in international sports events. The meetings are a good opportunity to exchange knowledge and share successful experiences, he noted.

    The meeting also discussed opportunities for holding joint workshops and training programs for members of the UAE sports community, organizing sports events and competitions and setting up training camps for individual and team sports.
    Ng Ser Miang praised the UAE’s world-class sporting infrastructure, noting that the stadiums and sport facilities built in the UAE meet the highest international standards and are capable of hosting major sporting events.
    The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and SMEs and Chairman of the General Authority of Sports and Secretary-General of the UAE National Olympic Committee Mohammed bin Sulayem.

    Etihad to Initiate Abu Dhabi-Gothenburg Flights Starting December

    Etihad Airways is set to begin seasonal nonstop services connecting Abu Dhabi and Gothenburg from December 17, 2026. The flights will run four times weekly until March 21, 2027. This new route will link the UAE capital with Sweden’s second largest city during the winter travel season. Ticket sales for the Abu Dhabi to Gothenburg route are already open. The flights will operate between Zayed International Airport and Göteborg Landvetter Airport. Etihad’s Abu Dhabi-Gothenburg service will operate four times weekly this winter. This will mark Gothenburg’s first direct air link with the United Arab Emirates and establish its initial nonstop connection to the Middle East and Asia. Travelers from western Sweden will be able to transfer via Abu Dhabi to various destinations across India and Asia. Additionally, the new service offers direct access to Abu Dhabi for those departing from the Gothenburg area. Göteborg Landvetter Airport serves Gothenburg and the broader western Sweden region. Operated with an Airbus A321LR, Etihad’s route will feature a configuration accommodating 160 passengers. The aircraft includes two First Suites, 14 Business seats, and 144 Economy seats. Both First and Business class seats convert into fully flat beds and offer direct aisle access. Economy class passengers enjoy 13.3-inch 4K touchscreen entertainment systems.
